IT security distributor Hemisphere Technologies has changed its name following its acquisition by Hong Kong investor Harry Cheung in December.
The company is now known as Thousand Hands Technologies.
Managing director Andrew Mamonitis said the name change reflects the recent consolidation of Hemisphere's different business units.
“The name change is really the culmination of our efforts to bring the company into line with our strategic growth objectives. It means we can leverage off increased opportunities made possible by the company’s recent changes; all under the one banner,” he said.
Thousand Hands Technologies sits under the umbrella organisation Thousand Hands, which includes an investment portfolio in IT security and distribution.
“We’re carrying forward the momentum we’ve developed with our channel partners. This new shift helps ensure that as our partners grow, we’ll be there along the way helping them access new technologies and the multiple service offerings essential to their business,” Mamonitis added.
Since the acquisition, Thousand Hands Technologies has made a few changes to its leadership, including the departure of director Peter Phokos. Earlier this month, the distributor appointed former AC3 solutions manager Kirk Jones as its first channel director, a hire which Mamonitis said was possible due to investment from Cheung.
Last year, Hemisphere secured several new vendor partnerships, including Trustwave in May, F-Secure in October, Centrify in late October and Pulse Secure in November.
Thousand Hands also announced it would launch a new lifestyle mobile application into the market that will offer an online marketplace for users to outsource everyday tasks to customers.
