IT security distributor Hemisphere Technologies names Kirk Jones as its channel director

IT security distributor Hemisphere Technologies has appointed former AC3 software solutions manager Kirk Jones to the newly created role of channel director.

Jones has 20 years of experience in the industry and will be responsible for expanding the business.

The creation of the role was possible due to recent capital investment from new shareholder Harry Cheung.

Managing director Andrew Mamonitis said: "He [Jones] brings a wealth of channel experience and is well respected within the industry."

Mamonitis said Jones would play a key role in reshaping the company.

"While we’ll continue to focus on our core strength as a value-added distributor, we’re also looking to improve our services to existing partners and attract new partners, which will be Kirk’s primary focus," he said.

"Appointing someone of Kirk’s stature is testament to the direction we’re taking and the results we expect to achieve."

The assets of the original Hemisphere Technologies were acquired by Hong Kong business investor Harry Cheung for an undisclosed value. Following the acquisition, Hemisphere's shell was renamed "ACN 152 546 453 Pty Ltd", before it went into liquidation in January 2017 with a $4.9 million debt.

The company has since reopened under a new ACN.

In 2016 Hemisphere announced several partnerships, including Trustwave in May, F-Secure in October, Centrify in late October and Pulse Secure in November.

In October, Kaspersky Lab terminated its distribution relationship with ACN 152 546 453 Pty Ltd, both companies are involved in an ongoing legal case over alleged owed royalties.
