Dicker Data to acquire Sektor to expand into South-East Asia

Dicker Data has entered into a binding agreement to acquire 100% of distributor Sektor Group for NZD$138 million (approximately AUD$111.8 million), which will expand its porfolio in adjacent categories and give it an operational footprint in South-East Asia.

Sektor is an Asia-Pacific distributor of point-of-sale and enterprise mobility, cybersecurity, physical security and specialised infrastructure solutions, with operations in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Malaysia. It employs approximately 230 people and was established in 2009.

The deal, which is subject to conditions and regulatory approvals, would give Dicker Data access to businesses Thailand and Malaysia, including physical facilities and a team of approximately 60 employees across the two countries.

It sees this as a scalable platform for expansion "across the broader Asia-Pacific region", citing IDC's previous prediction that Asia Pacific ICT spending, not incluing China and Japan, would reach USD$647 billion in 2026.

For ANZ partners, the acquisition opens access to Sektor's reseller ecosystem across point-of-sale and Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) categories. The ANZ point-of-sale and AIDC market alone is estimated at approximately AUD$1 billion, according to Dicker Data.

Sektor's vendor and customer relationships will also become available to Dicker Data's network of more than 12,000 partners across Australia and New Zealand.

The deal will be funded through an extension of Dicker Data's existing debt facilities.

The company expects the transaction to complete by end of October 2026, with two months of contribution to Dicker Data's FY26 results ending 31 December 2026. Dicker Data said the acquisition is expected to be earnings accretive in FY26, excluding one-off transaction and integration costs.

Sektor reported gross revenue of NZD$440 million and unaudited normalised pre-AASB16 EBITDA of NZD$22.7 million for the twelve months to 31 August 2026. Dicker Data said it is targeting annualised post-integration pre-AASB16 EBITDA of approximately NZD$28 - 32 million, before one-off costs.

Fiona Brown, executive chair and managing director at Dicker Data, said the acquisition of Sektor is highly complementary to the company's existing business and represents a logical extension of its long-term growth strategy.

“Sektor expands our reach into attractive adjacent categories including point-of-sale and enterprise mobility as well as further strengthening our physical security and cybersecurity offering," she said.

"Importantly, Sektor also provides Dicker Data with an established operational footprint in Thailand and Malaysia, accelerating our regional expansion strategy. Overall, the acquisition expands our addressable market, diversifies our technology portfolio and creates meaningful opportunities to use Dicker Data’s scale, vendor relationships and partner ecosystem to drive long-term sustainable growth.

"I would like to personally acknowledge and thank Rhys Warren, CEO of Sektor, Kenji Lim and the broader Sektor team for their leadership, dedication and contribution to building such a successful business. I look forward to working closely with them, building on the strong foundations they have established and supporting Sektor’s continued success and growth across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia.

Since the middle of last year, Sektor has signed local distribution agreements with Genetec, SentinelOne, Concentric AI and Semperis.
