Australian and New Zealand-headquartered Bastion Security Group has signed an agreement to acquire Phronesis Security, a specialist cyber security professional services provider headquartered in Melbourne.
This marks Bastion's third acquisition in Australia, following the recent acquisitions and integrations of Melbourne-based managed services provider Cythera and Perth-based Seamless Intelligence.
The leadership team at Phronesis will remain in place and the Phronesis team will integrate over time with Bastion's Australian operations.
Phronesis provides audit and technical assessment certifications to enterprise, critical infrastructure operators, and government clients. Founded in 2021 by Elliot Dellys, Phronesis has scaled to approximately 20 cybersecurity professionals with capabilities in security assessments, compliance frameworks, and certification services.
Phronesis' customers are expected to benefit from access to Bastion's comprehensive service portfolio, which spans managed security operations, governance, risk and compliance, penetration testing, cloud and network security, cyber strategy advisory services, and threat intelligence, while retaining specialised professional services from the Phronesis team.
Bastion’s CEO, Eugene Gibney, said Phronesis’ reputation for quality, integrity and technical excellence made them a natural partner for Bastion.
"We’re thrilled to welcome a team that shares our values and our commitment to elevating the cyber security industry," he said.
"Their expertise will play an important role in shaping our next phase of growth, and we’re excited about the opportunities this creates for our customers and our people."
Phronesis founder, Elliot Dellys, said Phronesis Security has been committed to ‘Cyber Security for Good’ – a mission to create tangible, real-world impacts for clients, people, and the world.
"Accordingly, we couldn’t be more excited to join forces with Bastion Security Group, who intimately share our core values," he said.
"In addition to gaining access to a deeper talent pool and a broader range of services, our combined network will enable us to accelerate innovation and further our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive workplace with an unwavering commitment to quality."
Phronesis were advised by Bonitz Advisory and Thompson Geer. Bastion Security Group were advised by EY and Maddocks.
Phronesis were a partner finalist in the Education category of the 2025 Benchmark Security Awards.
