Australian technology and transformation company xAmplify has appointed Tom Scicluna as chief executive officer, effective January 2027.

Scicluna, currently chief revenue officer, will succeed founder and CEO Wayne Gowland, who moves into a newly created executive chairman role overseeing long-term strategy, partnerships and governance.

The succession coincides with a broader reshaping of xAmplify's executive team.

Chief operating officer Brendan Leonard will become chief customer officer, leading the customer and transformation business unit. Michael Percival will step into the chief revenue officer role, overseeing new business development and strategic growth.

The appointments follow xAmplify's acquisition of Western Australian ServiceNow specialist Accelerate IT Solutions, which builds on earlier acquisitions of CTO Group and Green Cloud Consulting. The combined business now employs more than 250 people across five locations.

Gowland said the change reflected the maturity of the business and the need for leadership suited to its next stage.

"Tom has helped shape so much of what we've built over the past six years. He's been close to our customers, he's earned the respect of our team, and he understands what it takes to grow the business without losing what makes it work," Gowland said.

Scicluna said his focus as CEO would be bringing xAmplify's capabilities together while preserving the customer relationships central to the business.

"Our customers are dealing with a lot of change, particularly with AI moving so quickly. They're looking for practical advice, people who understand their business and partners who can help them make sense of where to invest and what to prioritise," Scicluna said.

The new structure will also support delivery of xAmplify's Digital One strategy, which aims to integrate the company's technology and transformation capabilities across enterprise platforms, AI, cybersecurity, cloud and business transformation.

All appointments take effect in January 2027, with a managed transition underway through the remainder of 2026.
