Australian technology company DX1 has appointed Tim Hope as its group chief technology officer, tasking him with leading the company's AI engineering strategy and technology partnerships as it targets enterprise clients across Australia.
Hope joins from cloud consultancy Versent, part of the Telstra group, where he served as CTO.
During his career, he has led one of NAB's early major banking deployments on Amazon Web Services (AWS), helped develop Versent's five-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS, and drove the firm's shift toward being an AI-first organisation.
In the new role, Hope will oversee DX1's technology strategy and its strategic partnerships, including the company's relationship with AWS.
DX1 chief executive Alex Rea said Hope's experience converting emerging technology into production-ready outcomes was central to the hire.
"Tim has spent his career helping enterprise leaders turn emerging technology into real, practical business value," Rea said.
"That expertise is critical as Australian organisations move beyond AI experimentation and start thinking seriously about how to put emerging technologies into production."
Hope said the opportunity to work at what he described as a major inflection point for enterprise AI drew him to the role.
"AI has really excited me about technology in a way I have not felt since the early days of cloud," Hope said.
“While the technology is moving at incredible speed, Australian enterprises need specialised partners that understand their business and can work closely with them to build quality outcomes. AI requires engineering rigour, robust data foundations and strict governance to deploy AI safely.
“That is what drew me to DX1. Its strong background in DevOps and DevSecOps and its engineering-led culture provide key ingredients to help Australian organisations move from talking about what AI could do to actually putting it into their operations, backed by the data, security, governance and AWS expertise needed to scale with confidence.”
