Tech Data staff have gotten their hands dirty in the name of charity, pitching in to spruce up one of the Leukaemia Foundation's free family accommodation sites.
The distie's staff participated in the first volunteer activity supporting the Leukaemia Foundation, the national charity dedicated to supporting Australians with blood cancer and their families.
The foundation provides free accommodation to more than 750 families in regional and rural areas each year that need to travel to capital cities for treatment at a major hospital.
Last month, 12 Tech Data staff volunteered their time to give the Leukaemia Foundation Patient and Family Accommodation Complex, located in Westmead in Sydney's west, a makeover.
Staff rolled up their sleeves by sweeping, digging, planting and hosing to get the property back into top shape with materials donated by Bunnings, who were also onsite to supervise and assist Tech Data's staff.
“I am so proud of our team members who were involved in this project,” Tech Data country manager for ANZ Wendy O'Keeffe said.
“Community outreach and volunteer opportunities are an important way that Tech Data can give back to the communities we operate in. We are proud to support the Leukaemia Foundation and will continue to support the excellent work they do to help those impacted by blood cancer.”
