Symantec reveals new CEO
Michael Brown

Symantec has appointed interim president and CEO Michael Brown as CEO, following a six month search involving more than 100 candidates.

The appointment follows Symantec’s return to year-over-year revenue growth under Brown, who has been interim CEO since March this year. He also joined the Symantec board of directors in 2005 following its merger with Veritas Software.

Brown replaced former chief executive Steve Bennett after he was fired by the board of directors in March.

The process of choosing the new CEO has been extensive, said head of the Board’s CEO search committee, David Mahoney.

“The Board ran a robust and diligent global CEO search over the last six months, during which we received interest from world-class candidates, including current and former CEOs and technology leaders from successful public companies."

Brown will announce Symantec's strategic plan within the next 30 days.
