Australian AI-first Microsoft consulting partner nexwave has appointed Stefan Buchman as CTO.
Buchman brings more than 25 years of experience across the Microsoft and AWS ecosystems and joins from Slalom, where he served as CTO for Australia and New Zealand.
Earlier, he spent nearly four years at AWS as a principal solutions architect, leading solutions architecture engagements for some of AWS’ largest enterprise customers in Australia.
At nexwave, he will lead technology and product strategy, set solution design and engineering standards, and work alongside practice leaders to develop differentiated AI-led offerings across the Microsoft portfolio.
His remit covers building reusable delivery assets, raising engineering quality, and scaling the firm’s Microsoft-aligned AI, data, cloud and modern intelligent capabilities nationally.
“nexwave has the ingredients to build one of the most credible Microsoft AI practices in this market, and that’s why I’m here,” Buchman said.
“My focus is engineering rigour, opinionated reference architectures, and AI patterns that run in production rather than stall in pilots. The gap between AI experiments and AI in operation is where many enterprises are stuck. Closing it is the work.”
“Stefan is one of the most respected channel technology leaders in the market. He’s built and led practices at scale across both the Microsoft and AWS ecosystems, and he knows what good looks like," said Carl Lowenborg, co-founder and co-CEO of nexwave.
"Bringing him in at this point signals our intent to play at the top of the Microsoft partner channel, and to back that ambition with serious technical leadership. He’ll be central to how we scale, productise and continue to differentiate."
Buchman's arrival is expected to accelerate investment in Microsoft-aligned solution accelerators, repeatable delivery patterns and partner-ready offerings across Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Foundry, Copilot, and Power Platform, while deepening collaboration with Microsoft’s local partner and alliance teams.
Last year, nexwave appointed Justin Shagam as director of growth and partnerships.
