NEC Australia has added a $9.2 million hardware contract to its already-large pot of work with Transport for NSW.
The IT giant will provide server and storage hardware to Transport for NSW as part of the end-user computing (EUC) solution NEC is delivering.
The EUC project is a $134 million, five-year contract for NEC that forms part of a major infrastructure services outsourcing project under which IBM is handling the data centre work.
Transport for NSW will own the servers and storage hardware being provided by NEC, so the equipment comes under a separate procurement process and separate contract.
The $134 million NEC deal was confirmed in July this year, while IBM’s $99 million contract was signed in November 2014.
NEC’s remit will cover 25,000 desktop PCs and up to 10,000 mobile devices and a collaboration platform, iTnews reported this year.
In June Transport for NSW told iTnews the fixed voice and mobile networking component of the overhaul was expected to be awarded shortly.
CRN has contacted Transport for NSW for the status of the fixed voice and mobile networking tender.
Transport-related IT expenditure announced by the NSW government this year included tens of millions toward smart roads infrastructure, real-time travel information and management systems.
Telstra also landed a $1.3 million iPad deal with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) in NSW.
