Microsoft has named Jane Livesey as corporate vice president and its next MD for Australia and New Zealand, starting in November of this year.

She takes over from Steven Worrall, who has held the position since January 2017 and will begin as CEO of Telstra's backbone network arm, Telstra InfraCo, on Monday September 1.

Until Livesey joins later this year, Steven Miller will continue to serve as interim leader for the Australia and New Zealand business.

Livesey brings more than 25 years of experience in technology and consulting, having held senior leadership roles with global firms across Australia and Asia Pacific.

She currently serves as president of Asia Pacific and Japan at Cognizant, leading the company’s regional growth agenda, with a strong focus on tech innovation, customer success and talent development.

She previously held senior leadership roles at PwC, serving as managing partner of technology consulting (technology, digital and cyber); Accenture, where she was MD of the technology group for ANZ; and IBM.

Rodrigo Lima, president of Microsoft Asia, said Livesey is a proven leader with deep industry expertise and a passion for nurturing top-performing teams.

"Her experience in driving transformation at scale and commitment to purpose-led leadership make her the ideal choice to chart Microsoft’s next chapter of innovation and growth in Australia and New Zealand," he said.

Livesey said she is honoured to join Microsoft at such a pivotal time for the region.

“Australia and New Zealand have unique sets of market conditions at play that make the region primed for outsized growth, and I’m excited to work with our customers, partners, employees and communities to harness the power of AI and cloud technologies to build a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable future," she said.
