Lenovo Australia launches PC-as-a-service via channel

Lenovo has launched a subscription-based PC-as-a-service offering into the Australian channel.

The offering gives customers with a minimum of 200 seats access to a range of Lenovo’s most popular devices on a monthly fee.

Lenovo partners will start with access to three of the vendor’s most popular devices, which includes three desktop PCs, three laptops and two tablets. More devices will be added over time.

The offering also includes procurement, deployment, support, staff transfers and any other services offered by individual partners.

Lenovo Asia-Pacific director of services and marketing Daniel Fields told CRN that both partners and customers had asked Lenovo to provide an operational expenditure model for procuring PCs.

“We wanted to make sure it was palatable for partners and end users, particularly for procurement and managing a fleet,” said Fields.

“We’ve been working with third parties to reduce the total cost of ownership. We found that about half of expenses are not related to the hardware cost.”

Lenovo Australia’s new channel sales director Margrith Appleby said the offering would be available to new and existing Lenovo partners.

“PC-as-a-service is for a business partner that wants a predictable cost delivery model, support, and to become a true solutions provider,” said Appleby.

“If a partner doesn’t yet have a service offering, then they can do it 100 percent back-to-back with Lenovo. If they already deploy Lenovo, they can build our service offerings on top of that.”

Rival vendor HP launched its on device-as-a-service offering to the channel in March. According the HP, its device-as-a-service offering was built from the ground up as a channel program unlike its managed print services product, which started as a direct sales offering.
