Distribution Central scoops Unify deal

Global communications vendor Unify, formerly Siemens Enterprise Communications, has added Distribution Central as its second Australian distributor.

Specialist provider CommsPlus had been the sole distributor for Unify in Australia for over three years. Phillip Zammit, Unify's general manager for ANZ, said the addition of a second distributor will support its enterprise push.

“Globally, our strategy is to have two disties in all of our mature markets, whether it’s a combination of regional or local, and Australia has been a big market for a while now,” said Zammit. “Because of our growth, as well as new products for the higher end of the market, Distribution Central is a great value add to push into the enterprise space.”

After a global restructure in June last year, which saw 3,800 jobs let go, Unify refocused its efforts into a 100 percent channel business model. Zammit said Unify will adopt a more strategic approach when adding reseller partners through Distribution Central.

“Being selective about choosing the right partner acquisitions is the name of the game here. We’re doing a lot of work with identifying partners where Unify complements what they’re doing.

"Over the past 18 months, we’ve become 100 percent indirect in the APAC region. We’re moving our global business to being 100 percent indirect slowly, but Australia has been channel focused for a long time now."

Distribution Central managing director Nick Verykios said his company would offer a full suite of reseller support services for Unify, including pre-sales technical support, post-sales field support, renewal and asset management and channel marketing programs.
