Computer Nerds Australia enters voluntary liquidation

Regional service provider Computer Nerds Australia has entered voluntary liquidation after owing $183,127 to the Australian Taxation Office.

Registered in 2003, the company provided domain name registration and onsite technical assistance to customers in the northern NSW cities of Armidale and Tamworth.

Shareholders decided to wind up the business on 27 September and appointed liquidator Murray Godfrey of RMG Partners Business Solutions.

According to documents submitted to ASIC, the company had an estimated $8923 in realisable assets and debts totalling $260,942.

The majority of its debt was owed to the Australian Taxation Office. A further $6101 was owed to superannuation funds, and $5214 to accountant Sullivan Dewing.

Computer Nerds Australia also listed debts of $6734 to distributor Impact Systems Technology, $17,849 to Canon printer dealer Inland Technology and $42,841 to Adelaide-based distributor Leader Computers.

The company was operational today, while Godfrey examined its options. Former director Brad Evans was tightlipped about the company, citing current legal issues.

"Unfortunately, the business has had to close," he told CRN. "The financial climate at the moment meant that we had no choice."
