Cisco updates Flip video line

Cisco has updated its pocket video camera range in Australia to include the Flip MinoHD and Flip UltraHD.

The new versions have image stabilisation and 720p resolution at 50 frames per second. Both are also pre-loaded with a new version of FlipShare, the software that allows Flip owners to edit and share videos which now has Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sharing functionality.

Cisco was not, however, releasing the Flip SlideHD in Australia, which launched in US in April.

Cisco has priced the Flip MinoHD 8GB version at $279.95 and 4GB at $229.95.

Cisco claimed  the Flip UltraHD ($279.95) was 25 percent slimmer than previous models and uses standard AAA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack which comes standard.

"Since Flip Video launched in Australia a year ago, we’ve seen growing demand in the market for shoot and share pocket video cameras,” said Todd Lynton, managing director of Cisco Consumer Products ANZ.

The new Flip range of video cameras will be available in late October.

Cisco Systems has been asked whether the revised version of Flipshare will be available for older Flip cameras, but has not replied at this time.
