Business as usual at Apple says boss Tim Cook

New Apple chief executive Tim Cook has vowed to continue running the company in the image of former boss Steve Jobs in a gushing note sent to employees.

Cook, who has taken over the reins just weeks after Apple briefly became the world’s biggest company, said he saw a bright future for the firm and saw no reason to divert from current strategies.

“I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change,” he said in a note sent to employees and seen by The Guardian. “I share Steve's optimism for Apple's bright future.”

"I cherish and celebrate Apple's unique principles and values. Steve built a company and culture that is unlike any other in the world and we are going to stay true to that—it is in our DNA."

Cook went on to praise the legacy left by Jobs, and said the company’s best years lay ahead.

Jobs stood down as CEO of the company last week, having steered the company into a position of strength on the back of the iPhone and iPad devices.
