Australian company lands Japanese distie
NetComm Wireless CEO and managing director David Stewart.

Vending machines in Japan will be controlled by Australian-developed wireless devices, with NetComm Wireless signing a distributor in Japan.

The Australian vendor with headquarters in Sydney has partnered with Kanematsu Communications Limited, a distributor for the likes of carriers NTT Docomo and Softbank in Japan. NetComm also plans to open an office in Tokyo.

The Australian vendor sees a big opportunity in the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market in Japan. Carriers are deploying devices that control vending machines, parking stations, point of sale terminals, digital signs, security systems and medical equipment, according to an announcement by NetComm.

The distribution deal will see NetComm M2M devices to Kanematsu's carrier customers.

The move provides a "tremendous new expansion and growth opportunities for the company", said NetComm Wireless CEO and managing director David Stewart.

NetComm has offices in the US, Canada, UK, New Zealand and the Middle East.

Last year the vendor announced it had signed a distribution agreement with Synnex to enter the M2M market in the US.
