Aussie Broadband expands WA operations

Aussie Broadband has opened an upgraded call centre in West Perth and expanded its Western Australian distribution centre to a separate Welshpool facility, positioning Perth as the company's second major operational hub outside Victoria.

The distribution centre expansion lifts local pallet capacity from 30 to 140, which the company said will reduce reliance on supplier deliveries from Victoria and improve freight efficiency to WA customers.

The upgraded call centre on Troode Street is the company's only residential call centre outside Victoria, giving Aussie Broadband coverage across Australia's eastern and western time zones.

Aussie Broadband group chief executive Brian Maher said WA is central to the company's long-term operational strategy.

"We first opened in Perth in 2021 and today's opening of our upgraded call centre and expanded distribution footprint underlines our long-held strategy to operate across the two major time zones in Australia to service our customers," Maher said.

"Increasing our storage capacity from 30 to 140 pallets means we can hold substantially more customer hardware locally, reducing our reliance on major supplier deliveries from Victoria and improving the efficiency of our freight network."

Maher also flagged the expansion as preparation for the nbn managed fibre upgrade programme commencing in 2028, which he said would create opportunities for WA customers to access higher-speed fibre services.

Aussie Broadband now employs around 150 people in Western Australia.
