Synnex clinches Rackspace deal for cloud portal launch

Synnex will officially launch its Cloud Automation Platform into the Australian channel this Thursday at the National Cloud Roadshow in Sydney.

The marketplace allows partners to procure cloud infrastructure-as-a-service and software-as-a-service on demand, upsell and cross-sell and attach hardware with cloud bundles.

Synnex will be the first Australian distributor to offer services from Rackspace. ANZ senior director for Rackspace Angus Dorney said the partnership would be vitally important to meeting individual customers cloud requirements.

“What stands out about this partnership is the opportunity for Rackspace to provide tailored managed services, in an easy and automated package for our channel partners,” said Dorney.

“Resellers and agencies can use one platform to manage all of their cloud accounts, with the assurance that they can call on our team at any time. They get the best of both worlds.”

Synnex recruited a number of vendors to its cloud portfolio including IBM Softlayer, Cirius, Nomadesk, BitTitan, Fenestrae and Egnyte.

Synnex Australia chief executive Kee Ong said: “With the new Synnex Cloud Automation platform, we are offering an upsell opportunity for our partners to bundle cloud solutions with their existing hardware and software sale.

“Channel partners can establish a great recurring business model. This platform also offers significant value to cloud resellers to transact, provision and manage their cloud business under one fully integrated portal.”

Synnex joins other major distributors that have announced plans in the cloud marketplace arena. Avnet was one of the first out with a cloud marketplace in 2012. Ingram Micro, Dicker Data and Distribution Central all launched their own cloud portals last year as well.
