xAmplify has acquired Canberra-based IT advisory firm CTO Group in a move that xAmplify says will expand its business transformation capability across cloud infrastructure, enterprise platforms, and intelligent automation, and accelerate its pipeline of national transformation projects.
As part of the move, the company will relocate its Canberra headquarters to larger premises in Barton in order to support closer collaboration across its integrated team.
The acquisition follows on from a recent strategic growth investment from Macquarie Capital Principal Finance, and will support xAmplify's continued expansion, including new offices opening in Melbourne and Brisbane later this year.
Founded in 2010, CTO Group has since grown to over 100 staff who handle advisory and project services across cyber security, digital enterprise, governance and assurance, service integration and technology.
The company's range of customers includes major Government entities such as the Australian Taxation Office, the Department of Defence, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and the Department of Human Services.
CTO Group also counts as customers the likes of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, DXC, NetApp, Symantec and Accenture, and large financial services groups such as National Australia Bank.
Wayne Gowland, CEO and co-founder of xAmplify, said organisations are looking for more than just one-off solutions - they want trusted partners who can help them connect the dots, from big-picture strategy right through to delivery, especially as they start to navigate the complex and fast-moving space of AI.
“It’s about understanding how to use it safely, securely, and in ways that genuinely improve how they work. This expansion gives us even more capability to do just that,” he said.
“By combining our expertise and solutions, we want to offer more practical, tailored transformation strategies that fit the real needs of each organisation and help them feel more confident about embracing technology in ways that make a difference.”
CTO Group CEO and co-founder, Kane Fillingham, said the company's expertise in digital transformation, governance and assurance, service integration and security architecture complements xAmplify’s strengths.
"We look forward to working together to support Australian public sector organisations with secure and scalable digital infrastructure that meets rigorous standards,” he said.
Last year, xAmplify secured a contract as the primary IT managed services provider for the Australian National Audit Office.
A proposed merger between Perth's CSO Group and xAmplify was revealed to have fallen through earlier this year.
