TechOne ousts Oracle in major uni deployment

TechnologyOne has added a multimillion-dollar software deployment at CQUniversity Australia to its expanding portfolio of education customers.

The university has gone live with TechnologyOne Student Management, which will be used to streamline the online admissions process for more than 30,000 students. The rollout involved migrating data from Oracle Peoplesoft ISAS to the TechnologyOne platform.

TechnologyOne is calling the rollout a "huge win", with the company now claiming more than half of Australian universities and TAFEs as its users. This includes Swinburne University of Technology, which went live with TechnologyOne's software for more than 50,000 users in May. Nine TAFEs in Victoria signed up to use TechnologyOne's platform last year.

The software provider hasn't been shy about replacing competing vendors' software, with executive chairman Adrian Di Marco calling rival education solutions "cumbersome".

CQUniversity was created this year with the merger of CQUniversity and CQ TAFE, and is being described as Queensland’s first "dual sector university".
