Tech Data Technology Solutions, formerly Avnet, has added graphics card manufacturer Nvidia to its vendor portfolio, in a deal it hopes will accelerate the delivery of high-performance compute in business applications across Asia-Pacific.
According to Tech Data, Nvidia’s graphics processing solutions can help high-performance computing customers drive business in the fields of life sciences, finance, oil and gas, manufacturing, artificial intelligence, deep learning, visualisation and virtual reality.
The deal sees Tech Data become the sole distributor of the Nvidia's DGX-1 unit across Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, The Phillippines, Thailand and Indonesia. The DGX-1 is a hardware- and software-integrated unit that has been purpose-built for deep learning; it is described by Nvidia as “an AI supercomputer in a box”.
William Chu, Tech Data Asia-Pacific president, said the offering expanded Technology Solutions' ability to provide next-generation solutions for the distributor’s partners.
Our solutions specialist approach is all about driving faster innovation and speeding time to market which is exactly what NVIDIA’s deep learning system does. We look forward to creating new opportunities for our partners across ASEAN and ANZ, leveraging this ground-breaking technology,” he said.
