Samsung Electronics Australia has appointed a new managing director, with the previous local boss returning to a post within the company's Korean headquarters.
The new managing director is Jae Hoon Kwon, who was previously managing director of Samsung Electronics Malaysia since 2011.
Kwon has more than 20 years of experience in consumer electronics at sales, marketing and managerial levels, according to a Samsung press release. Prior to heading up the company's Malaysian business, he was Asia sales and marketing group leader in the Digital Appliances Division.
Kwon will oversee "strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Samsung’s business in Australia".
He steps into a position vacated by SR Yoon, who takes up an unspecified role in the Digital Appliance business in Seoul.
In a statement, Kwon predicted "another year of impressive innovation" by Samsung in 2014.
Samsung Electronics market cap dropped by nearly US$9 billion earlier this month, amid concerns that profits may slow due to competition.
