Patrick Matthews, the sales director and GM for compute, high performance computing and data solution for HPE South Pacific, will be leaving the company on 22 May 2026.
The departure comes as Matthews decides to take a career break to travel and spend time with family in the United States.
During his 15-year career at HP/HPE, Matthews led both the HPE Services and Compute businesses.
In the South Pacific, his leadership supported growth across GreenLake as well as managed, consulting and support services.
Prior to HPE, he worked at Nokia for over seven years, holding leadership roles across the USA, South Korea and China.
To ensure continuity for customers and partners during the transition, Melbourne-based Anthony Sanelli, compute sales leader for HPE South Pacific, will step into Matthews' role on an interim basis, in addition to his existing responsibilities.
“Patrick has made outstanding contributions to HPE across South Pacific over many years, and we’re grateful for his leadership and customer-first mindset,” said Chris Weber, VP and MD of HPE South Pacific.
“We wish him every success in the next chapter. We’re also pleased to have Anthony step into the interim role to ensure continuity for our customers and partners while we conduct a thorough search for a permanent replacement.”
In January, Rohan Cook was named HPE’s new channel lead for the South Pacific following the retirement of Julie Barbieri after nearly six years in the role.
