Melbourne distie goes under
Melbourne-based distributor and wholesaler of PC components TA Electronics has gone into liquidation with debts totalling $478,960.

Some of the biggest debts are to MSY Technology ($34,341.13), Honli Computer ($26,340) and Just You PC ($26,940.39). The main creditor is the director and former director, said the liquidator, Michael Francis Quin of insolvency firm, Bent & Cougle Pty Ltd.

The company advertises a range of PC components, from desktop cases and PCI adaptors to laptop bags and Cat 6e cables. According to the TA Electronics website, the company is a distributor of Edimax, Tenda, Asus, AeroCool and Hyundai.

Registered in 2007, at one stage TA Electronics had five branches in NSW, Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia, but liquidators said it operated from a single warehouse in Melbourne at the time of liquidation.

"Customer demand moved away from desktop PCs to laptops and that had a significant impact on sales," said the Liquidator, Michael Francis Quin of insolvency firm, Bent & Cougle Pty Ltd.

The company was placed in voluntary liquidation on 19 February 2014. There are approximately 20 unsecured general trade creditors listed in the company report as to affairs.

"There wasn't much by way of assets," said Quin. "The physical assets included some equipment and a small amount of stock which is being sold at auction. We don't expect to realise enough money  to pay a dividend to unsecured creditors."

The business had three employees, according to Quin. A creditors meeting was held on 5 March, and the liquidators are now preparing a report for ASIC.

In addition to PC components, the TA Electronics website also advertises laptop batteries and chargers as well as software, including Windows 7 and Office.
