Legal Aid NSW seeks partner for grants system overhaul

Legal Aid NSW is on the hunt for an IT partner to transform its grants management process.

The largest agency of its kind in Australia, Legal Aid receives around 46,000 applications for financial aid per year.

The agency uses a legacy IT system – ATLAS – for applying, assessing and administering financial aid, which is currently at end of life.

Built on Microsoft .NET 3.5 and Windows 2016 Servers, ATLAS was developed in 2007 for Legal Aid NSW and Victoria Legal Aid by TechnologyOne, which still provides support.

In a request for tender published on 11 January 2024, Legal Aid said it is seeking an IT partner to supply, design and implement a new IT system to replace ATLAS.

The implementation is anticipated to take place over 18 to 24 months and will include the migration of data from the existing system and ongoing support.

The system is anticipated to be cloud-based not requiring on-premises infrastructure except for the likes of dedicated network devices.

Legal Aid expects the successful partner will provide a systems integrator (which may be subcontracted).

The request for tender will close on 19 February 2024.
