Konica Minolta signs $79.1m deal to supply armed forces with printing equipment

Konica Minolta Business Solutions has landed a major contract with the Department of Defence.

The printing supplier won an open tender for “office machines and their supplies and accessories”, according to AusTender.

The contract has been valued at $79.1 million. It runs from March 2017 to November 2020.

Konica Minolta declined to comment. “Due to the nature of the contract, Konica Minolta is not able to provide further information,” a spokesperson told CRN.

This is not the first time the Department of Defence has engaged Konica Minolta to provide office machines and their supplies and accessories.

Konica Minolta was awarded an $884,000 contract in November 2016 and a $698,000 contract in August 2016.

Defence also gave Konica Minolta a $194,000 contract to supply smartcard SME services in December 2016.

Meanwhile, last year, Dell won a $74.4 million contract to supply the Department of Defence with more than 100,000 desktop units.

Also in 2016, Unisys signed a two-year contract extension with Defence, valued at $74 million, to provide support for 100,000 users at 450 locations.
