Ingram Micro is dealing with a ransomware incident affecting internal systems, with most of the company’s country websites inaccessible at the time of writing except for a notice about the incident.
The company announced just after 7pm on July 5 PDT time in the US (soon after midday on July 6 Australian AEST time) that it had recently identified ransomware on “certain internal systems”.
It proactively took “certain internal systems” offline and was working to restore the affected systems so that it could process and ship orders, according to its July 5 statement.
At the time of writing most of Ingram Micro’s country web sites, including its Australian web site, were displaying a notice explaining that the company was experiencing a cybersecurity incident, with a link to the statement about the incident. The sites appeared otherwise inaccessible at the time of writing.
The distributor apologised for any disruption the incident was causing customers, vendor partners and others.
It stated it had launched an investigation with the assistance of” leading cybersecurity experts” and notified law enforcement.
