Ingram Micro has shifted away from its traditional IT focus after launching a dedicated ADIC and POS division.
The new division, Imrapt, will expand the firm’s retail presence and offer products from six vendors: Cherry, Datalogic, MYOB, NCR, Printronix and Toshiba TEC, while security devices from SonicWall and networking and mobility infrastructure from D-Link will also be offered. Further vendors will join the division’s stable as the business develops.
Ingram claimed Imrapt will allow resellers of RFID/AIDC/POS hardware to partner with ISVs and supply a more complete offering to end-users.
Linda Pifat, business manager at Ingram, told CRN: “We want to diversify our business and the new division will focus purely on AIDC and POS.”
Pifat added Ingram has set-up a dedicated team and website which will prove pivotal in generating leads for Ingram’s resellers.
Paul Spiteri, director of Datalogic said partnering with Ingram Micro's new AIDC/POS division suits its distribution go-to-market model perfectly.
“Ingram's overwhelming presence in IT distribution will certainly raise Datalogic's profile in Australia's Auto ID industry,” he said.
Doug Brown, national marketing and pre-sales manager of Toshiba Tec Australia said: "We see our partnership with Ingram Micro as a strategic alliance designed to provide an even greater access to Toshiba Tec’s range of retail information systems products.”
Andrew Yip, marketing manager for Asia Pacific at Printronix, said: “Printronix’s association with Ingram Micro is a natural extension of our channel strategy, which commits to delivering technology, solutions and service leadership to our worldwide base of resellers.”
