Sydney-based managed service provider First Focus said it has acquired Melbourne-based technology company Section Group, to bolster its website design and digital marketing capabilities while strengthening its position in the mid-market IT services sector.
The acquisition marks First Focus's third purchase in 2024 and expands its workforce to more than 300 employees across Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, Ireland, and South Africa.
Section Group, established in 2011, specialises in IT services, website development and strategic marketing campaigns.
The company has built a strong reputation in Melbourne for its customer-focused approach.
"After seeing the growth First Focus has achieved and learning about their approach to acquisitions, I felt they had the right mix of people and services to add value to our customers," said Natalie Hallett, chief executive officer of Section Group.
The Melbourne-based team will fully integrate into First Focus's national network, expanding the company's service offerings for mid-market businesses seeking to enhance their online presence.
First Focus, founded in 2003 and headquartered in Sydney, has maintained its position as Australia's top mid-market managed service provider in Cloudtango's rankings for seven consecutive years.
"We're always looking to bring on businesses that share our values, and when Natalie approached us after hearing about our recent acquisitions, it quickly became clear that Section Group was an ideal fit," Ross Sardi, chief executive officer at First Focus said.
The acquisition strengthens First Focus's presence in Melbourne while adding new digital capabilities to its existing portfolio of end-to-end technology services for mid-market businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
First Focus bought Adelide IT and development company Enee in February this year.
In December 2023, First Focus acquired Melbourne MSP Rock IT.
Terms of the Section Group deal were not disclosed by First Focus.
