Adelaide headquartered digital consultancy Escient said its' co-founder and chief executive, Steve Mabbs, will retire by the end of June.

In place of Mabbs, Rebecca Campbell-Burns will take on the chief executive role.

Escient is a Fast50 company, founded in Adelaide in 2016.

Campbell-Burns has been with the company since 2017, with her current role being managing director.

Over the past eight years, the company has grown to a team of 160, across four states.

Mabbs' retirement was announced three months ago.

"I’d like to congratulate Rebecca Campbell-Burns who will be my successor as our next CEO," the co-founder said at the time.

He went on to say that he has had the privilege of working with Campbell-Burns since the beginning of Escient being founded.

Describing Campbell-Burns as a visionary, Mabbs said she established the Escient Melbourne office in 2017, which has since grown to be the company's largest.

Mabbs will continue at Escient as a director, and move to become a chairman over the next few months.
