Dicker Data to acquire Sektor Group for NZ$138m

Dicker Data has entered into a binding agreement to acquire 100% of Asia Pacific distributor Sektor Group for NZ$138 million (approximately AU$111.8 million), which will expand its portfolio in adjacent categories and give it an operational footprint in South-East Asia.

Sektor was established in 2009 and employs approximately 230 people across Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Malaysia.

The deal, which is subject to conditions and regulatory approvals, will give Dicker Data access to the "new and growing adjacent category" of point-of-sale and enterprise mobility solutions and further its expansion into cybersecurity and physical security. Sektor also sells specialised infrastructure solutions.

Dicker Data estimated the ANZ point-of-sale and Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) market to be worth approximately $1 billion.

The deal will give Dicker Data the opportunity to introduce its vendor portfolio to new partners and expand Sektor's solutions to Dicker Data's partner network.

It will also give Dicker Data access to Sektor's businesses in Thailand and Malaysia, including physical facilities and approximately 60 employees across the two countries.

Dicker Data saw that as a "scalable platform" for expansion "across the broader Asia-Pacific region". It cited IDC's previous prediction that Asia Pacific ICT spending, not including China and Japan, would reach USD$647 billion in 2026.

Dicker Data expects the transaction to be completed by end of October 2026, with two months of contribution to Dicker Data's FY26 results ending 31 December 2026. Dicker Data said the acquisition is expected to be earnings accretive in FY26, excluding one-off transaction and integration costs.

The deal will be funded through an extension of Dicker Data's existing debt facilities.

Sektor delivered gross revenue of NZ$440 million and unaudited normalised pre-AASB16 EBITDA of NZ$22.7 million for the twelve months to 31 August 2026. Dicker Data said it is targeting annualised post-integration pre-AASB16 EBITDA of approximately NZ$28-32 million, before one-off costs.

Fiona Brown, executive chair and managing director at Dicker Data, stated that the acquisition of Sektor was highly complementary to the company's existing business and represented a logical extension of its long-term growth strategy.

“Sektor expands our reach into attractive adjacent categories including point-of-sale and enterprise mobility as well as further strengthening our physical security and cybersecurity offering," she stated.

"Importantly, Sektor also provides Dicker Data with an established operational footprint in Thailand and Malaysia, accelerating our regional expansion strategy. Overall, the acquisition expands our addressable market, diversifies our technology portfolio and creates meaningful opportunities to use Dicker Data’s scale, vendor relationships and partner ecosystem to drive long-term sustainable growth.

"I would like to personally acknowledge and thank Rhys Warren, CEO of Sektor, Kenji Lim and the broader Sektor team for their leadership, dedication and contribution to building such a successful business. I look forward to working closely with them, building on the strong foundations they have established and supporting Sektor’s continued success and growth across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia.

Since the middle of last year, Sektor has signed local distribution agreements with Genetec, SentinelOne, Concentric AI and Semperis.
