Datacom Australia has secured a $4 million multi-year contract to run the contact centre for IP Australia.
The four-year deal, worth around $1 million per year, was first awarded late last year with the system up and running in March. It is expected to run until June 2017.
As well as providing call handling, switchboard and email services for general enquiries, Datacom will also build an "intelligence platform" to help capture the "needs and views" of Australian innovators.
The initial tender notice called for suppliers to explore smart IVR systems and other systems to add value to IP Australia.
IP Australia administers IP rights and legislation regarding patents, trademarks and designs. The government agency is digitising and migrating services online, according to a Datacom statement.
Datacom is providing its contact centre solution through a multi-agency access arrangement with government departments. The project will be run from Datacom’s Sydney office.
