Data#3 has put up its hand to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World Greatest Shave event.
The annual campaign raises funds to research new treatments for blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma by encouraging participants to shave or colour their hair.
The Leukaemia Foundation has already raised $6.5 million from donations this year alone, with around 150,000 Australian’s participating in events around the country starting on Thursday.
The Brisbane IT firm will join in by hosting its own Data#3 Virtual Shave-Off on Friday at 10:30 am local time. Staff across six states will participate via video conference, aiming to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
Data#3 chief executive Laurence Baynham will be offering the task of shaving his own hair to the highest bidder. A number of other senior executives including NSW and ACT state manager Paul Crouch will also participate.
The company also hosts an annual charity golf day which raised $25,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation last year, which will go towards granting the wishes of four seriously ill children.
