  • The company said the architecture is designed to support agentic workloads.

Equinix has announced Equinix Fabric One, a managed any-to-any connectivity service designed to simplify how enterprises connect distributed cloud, network and AI environments, with general availability planned for 2027.

Rather than building and managing network connections one at a time, customers specify what they need connected - through a portal, APIs, automation workflows, agent-based requests or natural-language prompts - and Equinix Fabric One orchestrates the routing, cloud connectivity, encryption, resiliency and failover required to deliver that outcome as a single managed service.

Equinix said the service is built on open connectivity specifications developed collaboratively by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud - specifically the open source OpenAPI 3.0 Interconnect specification - to support interoperability across distributed cloud, AI and enterprise environments.

The company said the architecture is designed to support agentic workloads, where applications and AI agents can discover, request and provision connectivity programmatically.

"For decades, enterprise networks have been built one connection at a time for each partner and provider they depend on. That approach doesn't scale in a world of distributed AI that demands dynamic, flexible and real-time connectivity," said Chris Audie, chief product officer at Equinix.

"Equinix Fabric One will reduce the complexity that's slowing enterprises down by automatically managing connectivity across distributed architectures, based on the customer's intent."

Equinix said the service draws on its interconnection platform spanning more than 10,500 businesses, approximately 3,000 cloud and IT providers, and active deployments by eight of the top ten AI model providers and nine of the top ten neoclouds.

The initial rollout is confined to North America, with no ANZ launch date announced.
