Commander stated it wished to make corrections to the article published in The Australian Financial Review newspaper on 25 March.
Amanda Lacaze, managing director/CEO of Commander Communications said it continues to enjoy an extensive commercial relationship with the SA Government in relation to all three key contracts – Client Computing, Distributed Computing Support Services and Microsoft Large Account Reseller.
“The SA Government has detailed the current ‘business as usual’ status of these contracts in notifications to its Agencies on 19 February 2008 and 20 March 2008,” she said.
On 19 February 2008, the SA Government stated that it had met with Commander’s Lacaze to determine the company’s intentions and capabilities.
The notification reiterated Commander’s commitment to supplying desktop PCs to the State and said Commander had also invested in additional resources to support its Client Computing contract.
“On this basis, Agencies are advised that Commander/Volante continue to be a supplier to the State,” the SA Government notification stated.
In the same notification, the SA Government said Distributed Computing Support
Services remain core business to Commander and advised Agencies to “conduct business as usual with Volante” in relation to this contract.
On 20 March 2008, the SA Government advised Agencies that Commander/Volante would continue to provide services as the State’s Microsoft Large Account Reseller (LAR), following due diligence conducted by the State and Microsoft.
According to the Government’s notification, it was appropriate for the State to continue to utilise Volante pursuant to the current LAR agreement with Volante.
Lacaze said since embarking on our business transformation she has visited many large clients, including the SA Government, to ensure they understand their importance to Commander and its commitment to providing the right resources to meet their needs.
“The SA Government is a very important client and we are delighted to be working with them to enhance our service offering,” she said.
Commander also wishes to clarify that further assertions in the article relating to other major accounts are incorrect and do not reflect Commander’s current relationships with key customers, claimed Lacaze.
