Commander partners with Samsung Communications

Commander has partnered with exclusive Samsung business phone distributor Samsung Communications to offer its product portfolio through its national network.

Under the agreement, each Commander Centre will access Samsung's OfficeServ 7000 series of unified communication products.

"Having access to the full range of OfficeServ 7000 series means [Commander franchisees] can sell right across the small business space right up to 500 extensions," Brett McInnes general manager for Samsung Communications told CRN.

McInnes described the partnership as "big" and said the company has the resources to support the channel internally but was planning on adding dedicated staff.

"We've deployed a national channel manager to manage the role. That person will be 100 percent focused on the Commander channel.

Commander was acquired by M2 Telecommunications last June after going into receivership in August 2008 following nearly 30 years at the forefront of Australia's telephony services.

"McInnes said Samsung Communications was in discussion with M2 for six months. "They were looking for a IP PBX partner and the decision was to go with Samsung, which was the best fit for their business," he said.

Steve Wicks, M2 sales & marketing director said Samsung Communications like Commander "have a long history of providing quality business telephone systems to the Australian market.

"The two businesses are well aligned in terms of providing leading business communications that deliver real value," he said.

Samsung Communications sits outside Samsung Electronics in Australia and is owned by Plant Communications trading as Samsung Communications.
