Adelaide-based IoT vendor Buddy Platform has signed a global distribution deal with Ingram Micro, extending its potential reach to 160 countries.
The agreement extends on Buddy's existing deal with Ingram Micro in the US and Canada to distribute its Buddy Ohm product, a resource monitoring device for tracking utility consumption like electricity and water to provide insights in residential and commercial buildings.
The new deal does not extend to Australia, however. Buddy Ohm is distributed via Dicker Data as of November as part of the Australian distie's IoT community initiative.
Buddy pointed out that the new distribution agreement isn't an exclusive distribution deal, but Ingram Micro would serve as the preferred channel for entering new markets.
Ingram and Buddy will also work together to develop training programs for both sales and installation staff, and Ingram will extend bundled pricing with Buddy worldwide.
"Building off our recent capital raise of over A$20 million, and the exciting commercial opportunities afforded by our distribution agreements with Ingram Micro's Canadian and USA subsidiaries, we can now rapidly and efficiently take Buddy Ohm to more of the 160 countries worldwide Ingram Micro serves," Buddy chief executive David McLauchlan said.
Earlier this month, Buddy extended its market reach into the Caribbean and Central America with a distribution agreement with Digicel Group.
The vendor said it expects to enter new markets in Latin America and Europe next, having already appointed regional general managers in both areas.
