Acquisitive MyNetFone hunts voice specialists
MyNetFone CEO Rene Sugo

MyNetFone is continuing to look for another business to acquire, following a string of five purchases over the last two years.

The ASX-listed VoiP network provider is looking for companies to purchase with "reasonable" customer bases it can migrate it its network, CEO Rene Sugo told CRN.

"We've got a very expensive network, so we're looking to fill that network with as much customers and traffic as possible," he said.

Suitable acquisition targets might include resellers of toll-free voice services. "We're not so keen on pure resellers, but if they do voice on toll-free 1300 services, we're very interested in those types of resellers," Sugo said.

MyNetFone has raised a total of $5 million and spent approximately $12 million over the last two years on acquisitions, Sugo said.

In 2012 it bought Symbio Networks, Connexus, Callstream and GoTalk Wholesale, followed by the business assets of PennyTel in 2013.

The VoiP provider, which turns 10 this year, is riding a wave of solid financial performances. Gross profit rose from $5.7 million in 2011 to $17.6 million in 2013.

That number is forecast to increase to $23.4 million for 2014, according to a half-year business update earlier this year.

"Because we're profitable and have no debt we're in a very good position. We're able to raise acquisitions without having to raise capital," Sugo told CRN.

MyNetFone recently launched a new channel partner program, which now includes a dedicated account manager for partners, among many other changes.

"We seem to be attracting a new type of partner. In the old days, we always used to attract the IT maintenance type partner. We now seem to be attracting more of the tradition phone system installers. They were always reluctant to move to VoiP, because they were with ISDN and PSTN and they had good partnerships in place."
