Trend Micro promoted regional account manager Evan Thomas to head of partnerships and alliances, the security vendor's Australian head of channel.
Thomas took over responsibilities shortly held by Tim Falinski, who had taken on ANZ channel duties on top of his role as head of consumer for Asia-Pacific following the exit of Trend's Peter Hewett.
11 January
Cohesity named Kathryn Ramanathan as its first channel chief for the Australia and New Zealand region.
Appointed as channel and alliances manager, ANZ for Cohesity, Ramanathan drives growth and manage and support partners in the region, according to Cohesity ANZ general manager Theo Hourmouzis.
Ramanathan joins the hyperconverged storage vendor from Hitachi Vantara, where she was partner manager for the vendor's southern region.
14 January
Sophos Australia and New Zealand general manager Ashley Wearne exited the security vendor early in 2019.
Wearne led Sophos’ trans-Tasman operation for the past seven years, having been hired out of Adobe, where he was the creative suite vendor’s Aussie channel chief, in 2012.
21 January
Kaspersky Lab recruited McAfee's channel director Adam Boreham as enterprise account manager for its northern region.
Boreham joined rival McAfee in January 2016 as channel account manager and was promoted to the channel director role in August 2017.
In his new role, Boreham will be responsible for growing Kaspersky's enterprise business.
22 January
Trans-Tasman IT provider Fronde Systems selected its new chief executive officer in Auckland International Airport's Jason Delamore.
Delamore was previously Auckland International Airport's general manager of marketing and technology.
23 January
Early in 2019 Dell Technologies appointed a new channel chief.
Shant Soghomonian, who acted in the role since Geoff Wright’s August 2018 departure to Huawei, was made permanent in the role late in 2018, but Dell did not make the news public.
Soghomonian’s deep knowledge of Dell – he previously served as director of channel strategy for across the Asia Pacific and Japan and has worked for the company for a decade – were influential factors in his appointment.
23 January
Workforce management software vendor Kronos named Charles DeWitt as its new Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia region boss.
DeWitt replaced Peter Harte.
30 January
Former DXC vice president Stephen Kowal joined technology services conglomerate FTS Group as its new chief executive.
FTS Group is a federated group of technology services businesses that specialise in their own areas of expertise. It includes Anatas, Cubic Consulting, FTS Data & AI, FTS Resourcing, Kobold, SME Gateway and Veritec.
Kowal worked for CSC for more than ten years, joining the company in 2006 as CIO and director of business excellence. In 2015, he took on the general manager role where he was responsible for leading the company's push into the financial services sector and growing its footprint in Asia, Japan, the US and UK.
13 February
Artis Group managing director Chris Greatrex departed the national IT service provider after more than seven years leading the organisation.
The exit has made way for the company to appoint Mark Bennett in the new role of chief executive of the company. Bennett, who brings some 20 years of experience to the IT industry, said Greatrex’s contribution to Artis had been significant.
14 February
Application delivery software vendor Kemp hired Tony Sandberg as its regional director for Asia-Pacific, with immediate responsibility of expanding the business in Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to joining Kemp, he was director of solutions and industry marketing for Polycom, and held various positions in Singapore and Europe with Ericsson for 10 years.
18 February
Content Security founder and chief executive Louis Abdilla resigned from the cybersecurity MSP after more than 19 years leading the company.
Abdilla wrote to partners and customers to announce his decision, revealing that co-founder Phil Wurth would become the company’s new CEO.
Abdilla said that while moving on had been a tough decision, he had no doubt Wurth would take the business to the next stage. Abdilla will remain a stakeholder in the business.
1 March
Cirrus Networks co-founder Grahame Gilson departed the company for a role at enterprise storage vendor Pure Storage.
Gilson’s exit marked the last of Cirrus’ founding executives’ departures for the Perth-founded provider. He follows Frank Richmond, who exited the business in July 2017 before returning to the UK, and Mark Oliver, who departed Cirrus in July 2018, becoming a senior systems engineer with Cohesity.
The three founded Cirrus in 2012 out of a desire to improve the value for money customers were getting out of their IT, Gilson told CRN.
5 March
Cloud data integration vendor Talend appointed Helen Larcos as its first ANZ channel and alliances manager.
Larcos was hired from software development platform GitHub, where she was channel sales manager for ANZ and Southeast Asia.
13 March
ERP vendor Unit4 named Lee Gale as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand, replacing Chris Tithof.
Gale joined the Netherlands-headquartered vendor from OpenText, where he last held the role of APJ regional vice president of channels and alliances.
14 March
CSG chief executive and managing director Julie-Ann Kerin stepped down from her role after seven years leading the company.
She was replaced by chairman and executive director Mark Bayliss as acting CEO until CSG’s board finds a permanent leader.
25 March
NetSuite partner Klugo Group revealed that CEO Annaliese Kloé has departed for sister company Next Technik where she will serve in the same role.
General manager Mark Culverson has taken over from Kloe effective immediately. Kloe will remain on Klugo’s board.
28 March
Customer experience software vendor Zendesk selected Amy Foo to lead its Australian and New Zealand business.
Foo joined Zendesk in 2013 as financial director for Asia-Pacific and was promoted to vice president, finance and operations two years later. She will retain her current position while also taking on managing director responsibilities for ANZ.
She replaced former MD Brett Adam, who moved into the chief architect role at Zendesk's headquarters in San Francisco.
3 April
Optus made changes to its executive team, appointing Ben White to lead its SMB and wholesale business and hiring Matt Williams out of Vodafone New Zealand.
Ben White assumed the new role of managing director for business and wholesale, moving from his previous role as managing director for marketing and product.
White replaced Stuart Bird, who led the telco’s mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) business from 2017 to April this year, but he also now leads the small business team in the expanded role.
4 April
Alcatel-Lucent Enterpris hired channel veteran Karl Sice as sales leader for Australia and New Zealand.
Sice told CRN he thinks Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) has an opportunity to build on strengths in vertical industries, especially education, hospitality, healthcare and government. He hopes to become part of digital transformation discussions, telling CRN that he feels there are opportunities to assist with efforts such as New South Wales’ Service NSW online self-service portal.
8 April
NEC Australia confirmed that managing director Mike Barber left the business.
NEC said “a change in leadership approach” was appropriate after making changes to its business model and more closely aligning to NEC Japan.
Barber was succeeded by NEC veteran Mitsuhiro Murooka a few weeks later.
10 April
ERP software vendor Syspro made two key executive hires to lead its Australasian business, with a new channel chief and sales director joining the ranks.
Former Pronto channel chief Albert Lau was appointed as strategic alliances and channel manager for the manufacturing and distribution software specialist. Lau worked for Pronto for close to two decades before joining Syspro, most recently as channel manager before his departure in 2015.
18 April
Ben Gilbert stepped down as chief executive of managed services provider CommsChoice.
Non-executive director and former Nextgen Group chief executive Peter McGrath was appointed interim CEO and managing director in his place.
CommsChoice said Gilbert’s decision to leave was for personal reasons, citing “the burden of travel commitment on his young family”.
18 April
Kyocera Document Solutions' managing director for Australia and New Zealand David Finn left the company, naming Ryosuke Okochi as his replacement.
Okochi steps up from his role as process improvement manager at Kyocera Australia, a role he held since 2017. He is expected to lead a restructuring effort to shift Kyocera's focus from manufacturing to services.

Huawei Australia posted record results, and appointed a new CEO to replace George Huang.
The two announcements may seem incongruous – why appoint a new leader after revenue hit $735 million, an 18 percent year-on-year increase?
We’re told that Huawei likes to rotate its senior leaders every two or three years, that Huang’s time was up and that perhaps his Australian success has him marked for another gig.
1 May
Former Gigamon country manager Ian Teague joined enterprise identity governance solutions vendor SailPoint Technologies to lead its local business.
Teague brings more than 25 years of experience to his new role of ANZ regional director. He joined Gigamon as country manager in 2015 before his departure earlier this year. Prior to that, Teague worked for Akamai from 2004 to 2014, most recently as ANZ country manager.
It marks the second major hire for SailPoint's Australian business in six months, having recruited former IBM channel sales manager Craig McGregor in October last year to lead its channel.
2 May
ASG Group founder and chief executive Geoff Lewis retired after 23 years and was replaced by chief operating officer Dean Langenbach.
Langenbach joined ASG in 2005 as chief financial officer, and was later appointed COO in 2011. He previously held various leadership and finance roles at OneSteel, Entertainment UK, Diageo, GE Capital and Deloitte.
3 May
Arrow Electronics announced that Distribution Central founder Nick Verykios will leave the business on 30 June.
Verykios is a channel legend who came to Arrow through its 2016 acquisition of Distribution Central, the distie co-founded by Verykios, which he led to $300 million of annual revenue over 11 years at the helm.
“After more than 15 years of leading a high-growth and award-winning business I’m ready to take a well-earned break,” Verykios said. “My leadership team is intact and well-prepared – in fact they’ve been ready for a long time, and now the time is right for me and the team.”
6 May
Microsoft veteran Rachel Bondi took over the reins of Microsoft Australia’s channel leadership.
Bondi joined Microsoft 21 years ago as a partner account executive before moving Redmond to the vendor’s headquarters.
She returned to Australia in July 2016 to take on the COO role at the Australian arm of Microsoft, where she was accountable for centralised marketing, programs and communications for all products and services.
8 May
Lenovo ANZ promoted its distribution lead Sunny Gandhi to a new role as head of channel and distribution for SMBs.
In his last role, Gandhi was responsible for transforming the vendor's distribution business and increasing partner reach. During his time in the role, Lenovo has beefed up its channel tools for partners with features like the Lenovo Partner Portal and Deal Registration Program.
He joined Lenovo in November 2017 after a five-year stint at Ingram Micro, one of Lenovo's Australian distributors.
13 May
Veeam hired Veritas Technologies’ ANZ channel chief Janet Docherty as head of channel sales for ANZ.
Docherty first confirmed the change on LinkedIn, saying she started the role this month. A Veeam spokesperson also confirmed the hire.
Docherty will report into Veeam ANZ vice president Gary Mitchell and will lead the channel team in both Australia and New Zealand.
15 May
Former BlueJeans channel chief Adam Noall jumped to content delivery network provider Akamai technology, where he will serve as ANZ channel manager.
Noall joined BlueJeans in January 2018 as a global channel director for Telstra, one of the video conferencing vendor's largest partners in Asia-Pacific.
He was promoted to APAC channel director four months later, tasked with building out BlueJeans' channel team and expanding its presence in the region by working with cloud service providers, integrators and consultants.
5 June
The local arms of network security vendors Forescout and Gigamon played musical chairs with their leadership, leading to the appointment of Terrie Anderson as Forescout's country manager.
She replaces Forescout's former country manager Adam Gordon, who left in January after a year-and-a-half to take on leadership of Gigamon's ANZ business.
Anderson joins from Venafi where she was regional director for Asia-Pacific for three-and-a-half years. Prior to that, she was regional sales director for Riverbed Technology.
5 June
Cloud communications vendor 8x8 hired Michelle Marlan out of Genesys as its new ANZ channel chief, replacing Steve Shaw, who was hired in January 2019.
Marlan took over as senior manager for channel and alliances for Australia and New Zealand, and is expected to support the growth of the vendor’s network of channel partners.
Marlan last worked for call centre software provider Genesys as senior director for APAC customer success, a role she held for over a year. Prior to that, she worked at Genesys subsidiary Interactive Intelligence for more than six years in various sales and leadership roles.
6 June
Mimecast ANZ channel director Rema Lolas departed the email and data security vendor after just over a year in the role.
Mimecast ANZ country manager Nick Lennon told CRN that Lolas stepped down from the role to "explore personal opportunities to live and work overseas."
13 June
Lenovo Australia's Data Centre Group promoted company veteran Frank Eagleton as its ANZ channel boss.
Eagleton became head of SMB and channel sales for ANZ, succeeding Nathan Knight, who was promoted to ANZ general manager in December 2018.

Commvault appointed Craig Bastow to the newly created role of APAC senior director WW alliances as the vendor unveils its new ANZ business strategy.
21 June
Data warehousing vendor Snowflake Computing appointed Zac Brandt as regional director for Australia.
The newly created role is the top position in Australia, with Brandt reporting into Snowflake APJ vice president Peter O’Connor.
Brandt is tasked with supporting partners and helping push Snowflake’s data warehousing offerings to the Australian public and private sectors.
8 July
Former Artis Group chief executive Chris Greatrex joined Canberra-based digital transformation specialist Veritec to lead its expansion into New South Wales.
Greatrex took on Veritec’s business applications and cloud modernisation operations in the newly created role of general manager for NSW.
Greatrex comes fresh off a short stint working in a product development role at Datacom. Prior to that, Greatrex was managing director of Microsoft app specialist Artis Group from 2011 to 2019.
10 July
IT services provider Hotline IT appointed Jason LeGuier as its new chief executive officer, joining a growing leadership team.
LeGuier replaced Michelle Joosse, who now oversees governance and commercial management as managing director.
Headquartered in Sydney, Hotline IT offers managed services, cloud, security, communications and print services to customers in Australia and New Zealand. It has partnerships with Dell, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, HP, and many others.
11 July
HPE Australia director for enterprise territory Patrick Devlin joined the company’s wireless networking subsidiary Aruba as its ANZ boss.
Devlin assumed the role of Director of South Pacific in August, replacing Anthony Smith, who was promoted to APJ channel sales director.
22 July
Network security vendor WatchGuard Technologies appointed Luke Skinner as its first dedicated channel and distribution manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Skinner joined from Ingram Micro, where he last worked as business unit manager in the distie’s software business unit on Trend Micro, McAfee and Symantec.
22 July
Voice data capture and analysis vendor Dubber appointed Chris Melican as its first channel chief for Australia and New Zealand.
Melican is tasked with building up the company’s ANZ channel team and helping develop a comprehensive global channel strategy.
23 July
Canberra-based services provider Delv appointed Optus' head of ACT and federal government strategy Masseh Haidary as its new chief executive.
Haidary replaced Sam Smair on July 28th. Smair will remain as Delv's chairman, focusing on “exploring new markets” and establishing regional partnerships.
25 July
Distributor NEXTGEN has a new managing director: former CA, Infor and Oracle Netsuite exec Gavin Lawless has promoted to the top job.
Lawless was appointed director of growth in September 2018 and seems to have had an immediate effect: NEXTGEN’s announcement of his elevation says the company “grew over 20 percent in the financial year just completed, growing all its vendor partners with standouts being, Rubrik, Actifio, Arista, HPE, Rubrik, and Solarwinds.”
“In addition, our Oracle business continues to grow off a large base, even though the business is transitioning from 3 year perpetual licensing to 12 month subscription.” Cloud revenues grew by more than 30 percent.
26 July
IBM’s Australia and New Zealand managing director David La Rose vacated the role after being promoted to a global position in the US.
La Rose was appointed to the leadership role in 2017 after a near 28-year career with IBM. He’ll relocate to the US for his new role as general manager of IBM’s partner ecosystem, reporting to North America chairman Tom Rosamilia.
Replacing La Rose was another 28-year IBM veteran Katrina Troughton, who was most recently general manager of sales based in Sydney. Troughton’s career includes roles with IBM in Australia, New Zealand, China and the US, including leadership of the New Zealand business from 2004 to 2009.
1 August
Security vendor ForgeRock appointed James Ross as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
Ross replaced APJ senior vice president John Donovan, who left in March to join Sophos as its ANZ managing director.
Based in Sydney, Ross has been tasked with growing ForgeRock’s ANZ presence, focusing on revenue growth and business development.
1 August
Cloudflare appointed Raymond Maisano to lead its Australian and New Zealand operations.
Formerly head of VMware Australia’s security business, then its Cloud Foundation product, Maisano is also a former general manager of networking and servers at HPE.
2 August
Epson Australia and New Zealand managing director Bruno Turcato retired after 16 years in the role.
General manager for sales and marketing Craig Heckenberg was promoted to replace Turcato, officially turning over the role upon Turcato’s departure in September 2019.
Former Microsoft Australia MD Pip Marlow to lead Salesforce
8 August
Salesforce announced that former Microsoft Australia managing director Pip Marlow would join the SaaS giant as its Australia and New Zealand CEO after incumbent Mark Innes went "on sabbatical".
Marlow left Suncorp to take the job.
13 August
Identity management vendor Ping Identity promoted APAC channel chief Ashley Diffey as its new country manager for Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Diffey replaces APAC regional director Geoffrey Andrews, who left the company in April.

Extreme Networks promoted ANZ channel manager Julian Critchlow to general manager.
Critchlow replaced ANZ regional director Chris Georgellis, who left the company in April 2019 after two years in the role.
Critchlow, who had been the acting ANZ boss since Georgellis’ departure, has been tasked with engaging with Aerohive Networks’ partner and customer base in Australia, as well as promoting Extreme’s own product range. Extreme Networks acquired US-based competitor Aerohive in July for US$210 million.
16 August
Motorola Solutions promoted director of services Con Balaskas to become its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
Balaskas replaced Steve Crutchfield, who took on “an expanded government and public safety leadership role” across the company’s Asia-Pacific business.
In the new role, Balaskas will remain Motorola Solutions’ services lead while also leading the ANZ senior leadership team.
20 August
Open source software vendor SUSE appointed Charlie Yates as its new country director for Australia and New Zealand.
Yates, hired out of Citrix in April , replaced former SUSE sales director for ANZ Harry Kingma, who joined Micro Focus as ANZ alliances manager in February.
21 August
Data warehousing vendor Snowflake appointed Alana Sahakian as its first channel and alliances manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Sahakian was hired out of Tableau Software after the company added 15 new ANZ channel partners over the past 12 months.
22 August
Hitachi Vantara, the digital data systems subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd, appointed Adrian Johnson as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
Johnson joins from software vendor Liferay, and replaces Nathan McGregor, who left for an APAC role with Hitachi Vantara in April, i.e. vice president for data analytics and IoT.
22 August
Acquia appointed Jae Kong to the new role of regional channel chief for Australia and New Zealand.
Based in Sydney, Kong is responsible for working with channel partners and systems integrators to “build, manage and activate ambitious digital experiences at scale.”
26 August
HPE hired Simone Filetti out of Lenovo as its new territory sales manager for the South Pacific region.
Filetti replaces HPE veteran Patrick Devlin, who joined wireless networking subsidiary Aruba as ANZ boss. She is based out of Sydney, reporting to HPE South Pacific vice president and managing director Stephen Bovis.
2 September
IT services provider PS&C's chief executive Glenn Fielding resigned from his role.
Executive director and managing director of PS&C subsidiary Seisma, Robert Hogeland, was named as acting CEO as the company looks for Fielding’s replacement.
3 September
Mimecast unveiled Craig McGregor as its new ANZ channel director, replacing Rema Lolas after she left the company in June 2019.
Most recently director of channel sales at SailPoint, McGregor also served in channel roles at Microsoft, Adobe and Check Point.
3 September
Spirit Telecom announced that co-founder Geoff Neate resigned as managing director after 15 years at the helm.
Chief sales and marketing officer Sol Lukatsky was named as Neate’s replacement, whilst retaining his executive director role on the company’s board.
Neate stayed on as a consultant for mergers and acquisitions, working closely with chairman James Joughin.
11 September
HP Inc’s Australian channel chief Chris Hewlett left his role to return to head up the end-user sales team.
Hewlett is a 19-year HP veteran, having joined the company in 2000 as an enterprise account manager, working up to enterprise sales manager and eventually national channel & distribution sales manager in February 2012.
12 September
ServiceNow named Matt Bolton as its new ANZ Channel Chief.
Bolton took to LinkedIn to announce he’s been named senior director for the vendor’s alliance and channels ecosystem across Australia and New Zealand.
“After 6 years alongside … a wonderful group of team mates, customers and partners at Qlik, I have decided to embark on a new adventure at ServiceNow,” Bolton wrote.
16 September
Rackspace ANZ general manager Darryn McCoskery stepped down from his role.
Former HPE exec Sean Girvin has been named as his replacement in a new role as ANZ managing director.
The cloud provider did not provide more details on McCoskery’s future, but confirmed he has left Rackspace. CRN understands he has not taken on a new role.
18 September
Secure data exchange vendor Data Republic hired former Cherwell Software country manager Paul Arthur its first general manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Arthur previously worked with direct and indirect go-to-market models in his 20-year executive career, working for the likes of BMC Software, Autodesk and A2K Technologies.
Prior to joining Data Republic, Arthur was country manager of IT service management software vendor Cherwell Software from June 2015 until August 2019. Prior to that, he worked for A2K Technologies from 2012 to 2015, most recently as general manager for sales and marketing.
30 September
TPG Telecom channel chief Kyle Bunting left to join Lenovo Data Centre Group after a four-year stint with the telco.
Bunting has assumed the role of head of enterprise sales for Australia and New Zealand, replacing Shayne Harris, who moved to Lenovo’s device-as-a-service division.
Security firm Vectra AI hires channel chief out of Telstra
1 October
Network security vendor Vectra AI tapped former Telstra channel exec Dee Clinton as its Asia-Pacifc channel chief.
The announcement comes after naming its first Australian channel partner, Adelaide-based SecureWare, as well as its first APAC distie and New Zealand partner.
22 October
Video conferencing vendor LogMeIn revealed that APJ head of channel and alliances Robert Findlay has left the company.
A company spokesperson told CRN that Findlay cited personal reasons for his decision, and added that Findlay’s remaining team continues to operate as usual across all three business units.
5 November
HPE’s Australian Channel Chief Maria Fronek decided to leave the company.
The company’s South Pacific vice president Stephen Bovis issued a statement saying Fronek intends to “pursue the next career chapter in the new year.”
CRN understands the decision to leave is amicable and not related to Bovis’ recent decision to refresh his senior leaders for storage and servers.
6 November
HP appointed Chelsea Rossney as Australian director for the commercial channel.
Rossney replaced former Australian channel chief Chris Hewlett, who announced in September he was returning to the vendor’s end-user sales team after more than two years leading the channel.
12 November
Tenable’s ANZ country manager Bede Hackney left the vendor in favour of a role at unified analytics platform provider Databricks.
Hackney joined Tenable in September 2017, replacing the cyber security vendor’s first ANZ country manager Gordon Gakovic.
13 November
Canberra managed services provider Citadel Group's chief executive Darren Stanley resigned after three years in the role.
He was replaced by co-founder and current non-executive director Mark McConnell as CEO and managing director.
5 December
Optus CEO Allen Lew revealed he would step back from the role next year to make way for incoming chief Kelly Bayer Rosmarin.
The company announced that Bayer Rosmarin, currently deputy CEO, would assume the top job on 1 April 2020.
Rosmarin is a relatively recent hire for Optus, having joined Australia’s second largest telco on 1 March 2019 in the newly created role as deputy CEO for the consumer division. Lew said at the time that the role was specifically created to help Optus speed up improvements to customer experience.
10 December
Systems integrator Araza hired Doug Richards from Avaya to lead its new Canberra office.
Richards headed both the management and business development team for Araza in the Capital, bringing his 20 years of IT experience and 12 years of Canberra experience.
Araza said the new office comes after its recent successes in landing some federal government contracts.
