Zettagrid opens three new cloud availabilty zones

Perth-headquartered cloud infrastructure player Zettagrid has expanded its cloud availability footprint with three new zones in Adelaide, Brisbane and Singapore.

The new VMware Cloud Verified zones bring Zettagrid’s footprint to eight locations, which already includes Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and two zones in Jakarta.

Each of the new locations offer the same services as Zettagrid’s other zones, that being cloud infrastructure-as-a-service, backup and disaster recovery services. Zettagrid partners with NextDC for co-location in Australia, and Equinix in its South East Asian locations.

Zettagrid managing director Nathan Harman told CRN that part of the proposition of multiple availability zones in Australia was the need for localisation of data, and the option to share that data across Australia’s capital cities.

“We are executing on our aggressive strategy to expand our cloud services to all major Australian capitals and grow throughout South East Asia.”

Harman also said each location presents its own unique opportunities to Zettagrid.

“We see Brisbane as large market with a limited number of cloud competitors which makes it very attractive. In regards to Adelaide, this is definitely an underserved market. They have strong engineering, health, transport and some unique digital industries.

“Our research suggests that Adelaide is also seeking local cloud services to couple with their investment in the GigCity communications initiative. We are finding that both data sovereignty and network latency are key drivers for the growth of cloud in all markets”.

Zettagrid said in a press release that it plans for its Singapore zone to be a launch pad into the South East Asian market.
