Wozniak: Microsoft poached Apple staff for Windows Phone UI

Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, says he loves the design of Windows Phone, preferring it to Google’s Android mobile OS.

In an interview carried out by A New Domain, Woz whipped out three smartphones – a Motorola Droid RAZR, a Nokia Lumia and an iPhone 4S – before explaining his penchant for the Windows Phone interface.

But the interviewers erroneously suggested Woz preferred his Lumia even to an iPhone, causing the Apple founder to lash back in the comments. “Wrong,” Wozniak commented, “iPhone is my favourite phone.”

And Woz continued his comment to infer that whoever designed the Windows Phone UI had been an Apple staffer previous to being hired at Microsoft.

“I surmise that Microsoft hired someone from Apple and put money into having a role in the UI and appearance of some key apps,” he said. “I also surmised that Steve Jobs might have been reincarnated at MS due to a lot of what I see and feel with this phone making me think of a lot of great Apple things.”
