Wavelink has launched dedicated operations in New Zealand, the technology distributor's first major expansion outside Australia after more than two decades of serving the trans-Tasman market.
The Swiss Infinigate Group subsidiary has appointed Danny Meadows as regional manager for New Zealand, establishing local leadership to accelerate growth in what the company describes as a critical market.
Wavelink's approach until now has been to support New Zealand partners remotely from Australia.
The timing coincides with Wavelink seeing surging demand across New Zealand for advanced cybersecurity, mobility, storage, and networking technologies, particularly within critical infrastructure, government, healthcare, and logistics sectors.
Wavelink plans to introduce multiple vendors from its mobility and security portfolios to meet this demand, including Censys, Claroty, Garland Technology, Honeywell, Orca Security, Penguin Solutions, SOTI, Spectralink, and Swimlane.
Additional vendor partnerships will follow in coming months.
"Expanding into New Zealand is a key part of Wavelink's regional growth strategy," Ilan Rubin, chief executive officer at Wavelink, said.
"There is increasing demand from partners and vendors for a local presence, and this investment reflects Wavelink's commitment to meeting that demand with the right people and support."
The expansion addresses growing expectations from global vendors seeking consistent coverage and capability across the ANZ region.
Meadows will operate from Auckland, leading Wavelink's growth strategy whilst developing the partner network and building a local team.
Prior to Wavelink, Meadows was the cyber and data resilience director for ANZ at technology provider NEXTGEN.
"Wavelink's unique approach to distribution will be a huge selling point to open doors to channel partners," Meadows said.
"Wavelink's reputation for delivering genuine channel value and its strong portfolio of vendors make this an ideal time to launch a local presence in New Zealand."
