Townsville City Council seeks digital asset management solution

Queensland's Townsville City Council has gone to market for a secure, scalable cloud-based digital asset management (DAM) solution to manage the full lifecycle of its digital content.

The council says the successful supplier will design, configure, integrate and migrate existing assets.

Suppliers are asked to explain how the solution will support administration, upgrades, user adoption, growing asset volumes, automated tagging, artificial-intelligence-assisted search and multi-channel distribution.

Townsville City Council is a local government area in North Queensland that takes in the city of Townsville along with surrounding rural areas and communities - including Magnetic Island - and is regarded as the capital of North Queensland.

The council says suppliers must demonstrate a track record designing, implementing and supporting secure, cloud-based DAM solutions for organisations with comparable operational, technical and governance requirements, and that preference may be given to those with successful delivery for local government or public-sector organisations of a similar or larger size.

Responses should include examples covering solution configuration, metadata and classification structures, system integration, migration of legacy digital assets, cyber security, records management and ongoing support, and should explain how the supplier managed delivery risks, service levels, performance measures, scalability and whole-of-life value.

The requirements span nine key areas of scope: digital asset management and lifecycle management; metadata, classification and search; rights, consent and ownership management; cloud hosting, security and user access management; data governance, records management and compliance; system integrations and asset migration; training, support and service management; reporting, analytics and future scalability; and supplier capability, project resources and value for money.

The contract runs for three years to 2029, with two one-year extension options available.

The RFQ closes at 1pm AEDT on 8 October 2026.
