It’s an area resellers in the hardware market can expect better margins and service opportunities said thin client vendor, Wyse Technologies.
Earlier this month Microsoft relaxed its Windows Vista licensing model in the face of stiff pressure from VMware's virtualised hosted desktop and other new desktop software models.
Anna Soriano, director of APAC channel sales and marketing, Wyse Technology said Microsoft’s plans will further fuel the need for thin clients.
“This will help people see thin clients as a new way of creating a new virtualised program on the desktop,” she said.
“With the success VMWare’s virtualisation server product, end-users are becoming interested in investing in a complete solution.”
Wyse has been around since 1991 and according to Soriano has around 73 percent market share in Australia.
“There are more then 1000 resellers in the PC market; thin client products can give these resellers the ability to differentiate themselves. These guys can also sell into verticals like education, health and retail,” she said.
Wyse runs solely of a channel model and partners include Clarity Regal, Logitech, Dell and IBM.
