Canberra-based Penten Services has secured a contract with the Department of Defence to develop IT security solutions for the Australian Army.
The $2.2 million contract, issued through Defence’s Innovation Hub, is to “innovative cyber technologies and solutions”, including communications, cyber-management and security.
Penten has been tasked with developing “technology that seeks to enhance the Australian Army’s capacity to send communications over unsecured networks”, cyber-management capability and to enhance cybersecurity countermeasures.
The solutions aim to help the Australian Army monitor its network traffic and mitigate cyber attacks.
“Innovation is critical to build and sustain the Australian Defence Force’s capability edge,” minister for defence industry Melissa Price said.
“Australia benefits from an industrial base of many agile small to medium enterprises like Penten. The government is committed to investing in Australian jobs and small and medium enterprises to develop our defence industry.”
Penten is a partner of Tenable Network Security and the exclusive distributor and channel partner of UK cyber security firm Amiosec Ltd. Founded in 2015 with four staff, the company now employs 50.
The company is listed in a number of Digital Transformation Agency and Defence Support Services panels, and is also listed through sub-contracting partners with the Department of Human Services, Australian Signals Directorate and Technical Support Services.
