Spotting the perfect smartphone is only half the battle now for gadget lovers - getting your preferred carrier is the other half of the equation.
With Vodafone snapping up some seriously enticing phones of late, Telstra had struck back with the HTC HD7 - a Windows Phone 7 device with a big 4.3in touchscreen.
The HD7 went on sale today on Telstra's Freedom Connect Plans, starting at $49 including a 1GB of data for 24 months. The $59 Freedom Connect plan includes 1.5GB and unlimited texts, while $79 includes 2GB data.
While it's early days for Windows Phone 7, there is evidence that Windows Phone 7 devices aren't immune to the issues of delivering fast OS updates to different handsets.
There were reports of some phones crashing after a minor update earlier this year. While the HTC HD7 sold through Telstra will have the latest update, which adds the copy and paste function, not all Windows Phone 7 devices in Australia have received the update yet.
