TechnologyOne snags contract with City of South Perth

TechnologyOne has secured another multi-year contract with a local council, this time with the City of South Perth.

The eight-year deal will see the Brisbane-headquartered software firm replace the council's legacy on-premises solution with TechOne's OneCouncil SaaS solution designed specifically for local governments.

OneCouncil is an integrated enterprise solution designed to allow local governments to manage council operations, reduce costs and improve customer services, according to TechOne.

City of South Perth chief executive Geoff Glass said the new solution would first be implemented to improve internal operations before being rolled out to online services in the third year.

“This isn’t just an IT implementation, it’s so much more than that," said Glass. "We are expecting OneCouncil to completely transform our business and facilitate the delivery of excellent digital services to our customers, giving them unprecedented access to self-service anytime, anywhere.

“Rather than starting with a blank slate, OneCouncil is a preconfigured software solution, which will allow us to accelerate our implementation and experience efficiencies sooner. Switching to SaaS will also see the city benefit from significant year-on-year cost savings, world-leading data security, and the ability to stay at the forefront of innovation through regular system upgrades."

The platform is expected to go live in mid-2019.

The City of South Perth joins a growing list of TechOne's government customers, particularly in local government, the most well-known being Brisbane City Council.

TechOne traded barbs with the council throughout 2017 after the two had a falling out over a contract to replace 13 legacy systems. Both parties threatened to sue each over for $50 million in damages, but eventually settled in December.

In March, TechOne partnered with the City of Mitcham in Adelaide to replace its paper-based work orders with a government-focused enterprise solution.

“TechnologyOne is providing the future of enterprise software today by delivering SaaS. Once the project is live, the City of South Perth will no longer have to worry about the complexity of running or updating their software and infrastructure," said TechOne COO Stuart MacDonald. "We take care of that for them, so they can focus on serving the community."
