Synnex has forged a new partnership with US-based vendor Carbonite to bring its backup and data protection products to the Australian channel.
Headquartered in Massachusetts, Carbonite boasts more than 1.5 million customers worldwide for its data protection products, which includes backup software for servers, data centres, endpoints and system migrations.
Synnex Australia chief executive Kee Ong said the partnership would enhance the distributor's cloud data protection portfolio.
"Especially for partners that require a solid migration solution to move client servers and data between various cloud platforms. This presents a tremendous opportunity to offer on-premises and cloud migration services,” he said.
Synnex resellers will be able to sell Carbonite's products directly to customers while MSPs can offer data-protection-as-a-service.
"The challenges of moving workloads and data between servers or cloud infrastructure is minimisation of downtime for clients," said Michael Tea, Synnex general manager for e-commerce and cloud services.
"With Carbonite, our partners will be able to move data, applications or entire servers between clouds, physical and virtual platforms with virtually zero downtime.”
Carbonite APAC regional sales director Steve Stavridis said: “Businesses today are required to protect more data than ever before — at the same time they need to defend against a rising number of threats to their data. They need a comprehensive data protection strategy to ensure they can protect critical business data and minimise both planned and unplanned downtime.”
Synnex has signed on a handful of new distribution deals with vendors this year such as Danish cloud printing managed services platform Printix and a renewed agreement with Toshiba for its storage portfolio.
Last month, the distie announced that it had launched a managed service finance package aimed at helping smaller partners bundle hardware, software, licensing, cloud and professional services onto the same bill.
