Steven Martin has joined ConnexDC, an Aboriginal-owned ICT and data-centre capability business, as GM of strategy.

Martin joins the company after 11 years at NEXTDC in various leadership roles, departing as the company's head of sales for major markets in Australia in July.

Prior to NEXTDC, he held senior leadership roles as head of channels at Adobe and Symantec.

ConnexDC operates under the umbrella of the Yalagan Group; the Yalagan Group also oversees Blocktrain, an eLearning platform delivering educational solutions tailored to the ICT sector.

Martin's hire also coincides with the opening of ConnexDC's new Sydney CBD office at Salesforce Tower.

“Steven joining ConnexDC is a significant step forward for our business and for broader Indigenous participation in critical digital infrastructure,” said Scott McCartney, MD of Yalagan Group.

“ConnexDC is still an early player in the ICT and data-centre space, but with the right partnerships, leadership, and now a Sydney CBD presence, we’re building something that is both commercially credible and deeply impactful.”

Martin said he was excited by the opportunity to help scale ConnexDC while staying grounded in purpose.

“What attracted me to ConnexDC is the opportunity to build a leading ICT and data-centre capability business that delivers real impact,” he said.

“The goal is to make ConnexDC a respected and competitive player in the ICT space — one that just happens to be Indigenous-owned — while creating genuine pathways for First Nations people into this industry.”
